A Russia-based global cybersecurity firm reports that universities are a prime target for online frauds, and the University of Iowa is the third-most targeted school observed, the Cedar Rapids Gazette reports. Kaspersky Labs, itself the subject of previous scrutiny for potential influence by the Kremlin, observed 49 attempted phishing attacks on UI, making up about 5.1 percent of the total attacks Kaspersky observed in the last year. At least one attack, a faux HawkID login page, remained active as of the Kaspersky report.
