The Des Moines Bicycle Collective is now the Street Collective, a new name that reflects a broader mission of making things better for walkers, bus riders, bicyclists and other travelers trying to share the road with vehicles — or to find their own route. The organization will continue to run its bike shop, youth education and giveaway programs, and valet, recycling and bike share programs. The group formed a decade ago and now will team with public health groups, affordable housing advocates, parent-teacher groups and others to look for safer regional transportation options.
