Des Moines Register: Blaming the federal government for failing to support the industry, a South Dakota company said today that it will stop producing an environmentally friendly ethanol that's made from corncobs, stalks and other crop residue in northwest Iowa. Poet, the nation's largest ethanol producer, says it will continue research and development at the Emmetsburg plant that opened in 2014. The shift means Poet will cut about 30 of the 70 workers at the plant in February.
