Two Ankeny-based companies topped a list of a dozen Greater Des Moines enterprises that earned a place on this year’s Inc. 5000, which is Inc. magazine’s annual list of the 5,000 fastest-growing companies. In all, Greater Des Moines-based companies accounted for nearly half of the 26 Iowa companies featured on this year’s list. 

Pet Parents, a pet products company founded in 2016 by Blake Anderson, was No. 378 on the Inc. 5000 list, topping both the metro and state rankings with a three-year revenue growth rate of 1,208%. 

On its heels was MyTown2Go, with a ranking of No. 416, with a three-year revenue growth of 1,107%. The Ankeny-based company offers a platform on which restaurants can host menus and other information about food takeout and delivery. The company has a team of independent contractors that make deliveries from restaurants. 

Collectively, the 12 Greater Des Moines companies making this year’s list had a median three-year growth rate of 151% in revenues. Central Iowa’s booming construction industry was reflected in the companies listed, among them Heartland Roofing, Siding and Windows in Clive, Heritage Group in Des Moines and McClure Engineering in West Des Moines.  

The 2020 Inc. 5000 companies achieved a three-year average growth of over 500%, and a median growth rate of 165%. The Inc. 5000’s aggregate revenue was $209 billion in 2019, accounting for more than 1 million jobs over the past three years.
