The city of Norwalk, in conjunction with SportsPlex USA, Gregg Young Sports Campus and Sportsman Solutions, has announced that TPH Academy, a multi-sport academy for athletes in grades six through 12, will be a part of the Gregg Young Sports Campus at Norwalk Central. TPH Academy will be located in the planned SportsPlex Norwalk building just east of the city’s new public recreation facility, City State Bank Norwalk Fieldhouse, in the Norwalk Central development.

TPH Academy will occupy 3,000 square feet of the facility next to Mullet’s Restaurant and Pin High Golf and is planned to open by the fall of 2024, according to a news release. TPH Academy offers individualized academic curriculum, combined with sport-specific training and virtual mentorship and leadership coaching, the news release continued.

TPH Academy describes its model as a “a sports academy that facilitates a blended learning experience for aspiring elite student athletes.” “We partner with both public and private education providers and install academic on-site leadership to tailor the experience to our student athletes,” TPH Academy CEO Alan Keeso said in a prepared statement.

The Iowa High School Athletic Association open enrollment program allows students to attend TPH Academy and remain enrolled in their local school, allowing them to participate in sports and extracurricular activities in their district.
