Disaster Unemployment Assistance is now available to eligible individuals as a result of a Major Disaster Declaration signed by President Joe Biden on Friday. Iowa Workforce Development is now accepting applications for Disaster Unemployment Assistance from individuals in Adair, Polk, Story and Montgomery Counties whose employment or self-employment was lost or interrupted due to the severe storms that occurred on May 21. Additional details, including information on deadlines and eligible weeks for this assistance, are expected early next week. This announcement follows the Disaster Unemployment Assistance that was announced last week for eight Iowa counties on May 15 due to several storms from April 26. The counties covered by that announcement were: Clarke, Harrison, Mills, Polk, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby and Union. Learn more about eligibility on the Iowa Workforce Development website.
