Applications are open for the African American Leadership Academy, which is designed to develop the next generation of leaders for the Des Moines community and beyond. The leadership academy takes the unique perspective of the Black community and addresses leadership from a variety of perspectives including politics, education, the media, criminal justice and law, and both nonprofit and for-profit business. The application requires an introductory video, resume and a letter of recommendation. The application deadline is Jan. 28.
