Airport gained 3.6 percent more passengers in January

Des Moines International Airport saw a 3.6 percent increase in passengers in January, compared with the same month in 2014. Counting both arrivals and departures, the airport handled 178,065 passengers, up from 171,829 the previous January. The biggest gainer among the airlines was United Airlines with a 16.9 percent jump. The biggest loser was Frontier Airlines, with a 52.2 percent drop in passengers. United was the largest carrier, with 44,020 passengers, a few thousand more than Delta Air Lines.
