Des Moines Register: Allegiant Air is giving Des Moines a bite of the Big Apple, adding another nonstop flight to its fast-expanding schedule from Des Moines International Airport. The Las Vegas-based budget carrier and the airport announced Tuesday that Allegiant will begin nonstop service to Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, N.J., one of the three major airports serving the New York metro area. Allegiant’s online schedule shows Monday and Friday flights beginning May 20, with Friday service shifting to Thursday on Aug. 18 and Monday service shifting to Sunday on Aug. 21.
