The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Des Moines-area residents to participate in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Aug. 29 as individuals or small groups on the sidewalks, tracks and trails in their community. Participants can tune in to an opening ceremony featuring local speakers through their smartphones and computers; the Promise Garden will be available in a “view only” format at the Iowa Capitol to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s. Participants can use the Walk to End Alzheimer’s mobile app to track their steps and distance, follow a virtual Walk path, manage fundraisers and access other resources, the Alzheimer’s Association Iowa Chapter said in a statement. Registration and other updates are available online at act.alz.org/DSMwalk.
