The event raises money for cardiovascular research and aims to raise awareness that cardiovascular disease is women’s greatest health threat. “Recent Go Red for Women surveys show that young women, Gen Z and millennials are less likely to be aware that heart disease is their greatest health threat,” event chair Jill Crosser said. “As women, we juggle so many responsibilities that it can be difficult to prioritize our own physical health and mental well-being. We need to change that. The American Heart Association is here at every stage and every season of a woman’s life with the information we need, when we need it.” The Des Moines Go Red for Women event has raised more than $1 million in its 18-year history. The event includes a silent auction, keynote speaker, survivor story and a runway fashion show, according to a release. Tickets and more information about the event can be found at the event website.
