Ames Tribune: The Ames City Council passed a mask mandate on Tuesday for many buildings open to the public. Ames Mayor John Haila said at Tuesday night’s Ames City Council meeting that while he could not guarantee that COVID-19 will not continue to spread in Ames, he wanted to keep Iowa State University’s doors open, minimize hospitalizations and protect the city’s most vulnerable citizens. After a marathon conversation with city officials and law enforcement, the Council voted 4-2 to adopt the ordinance.
