Ames Mayor John Haila said at Tuesday night’s Ames City Council meeting that while he could not guarantee that COVID-19 will not continue to spread in Ames, he wanted to keep Iowa State University’s doors open, minimize hospitalizations and protect the city’s most vulnerable citizens. After a marathon conversation with city officials and law enforcement, the Council voted 4-2 to adopt the ordinance.
