Ames company demonstrates Bioasphalt
Ames-based Avello Bioenergy Inc. yesterday demonstrated the first use of Bioasphalt technology on a bike path in Des Moines.
The Waveland Trail, which connects University Avenue to Franklin Avenue, has been partly paved using Bioasphalt, which is a mix of bio-oil and asphalt created by Iowa State University professor Christopher Williams.
Avello has licensed the technology from the Iowa State University Research Foundation Inc. with funding from the Iowa Department of Economic Development.
