Apple drops WikiLeaks; Google doesn’t yet
Apple Inc. took a stand Wednesday against the controversial release of confidential information by WikiLeaks, removing a WikiLeaks application from its online mobile store.
Google Inc., though, has kept several apps on its Android Marketplace that make it easier to access confidential U.S. government documents released by WikiLeaks, according to Bloomberg.
Apple released a statement saying, “We removed the WikiLeaks App from the App Store because it violated our developer guidelines.”
Some experts predict Apple could become a WikiLeaks target due to backlash from the decision.
