The Iowa Bankers Association is accepting applications for the John Hughes Memorial Scholarship to the Iowa School of Banking. The scholarship was established as a memorial in 1986 for Hills, Iowa, banker John Hughes. Two individuals will be selected to receive the annual award, one from an Iowa college or university and one employed by an Iowa news organization. The scholarship pays all room, board and tuition expenses for the student to attend the first-year curriculum of the two-year school. This year the school will be held in Cedar Rapids at the Marriott Hotel, June 7-12. The curriculum includes topics such as investments, bank financial analysis and the changing banking environment. The deadline for receiving applications is April 10. See more information on how to apply.
