The Des Moines Art Center has acquired one of 60 known impressions of the only etching ever produced by Vincent van Gogh. “The Portrait of Dr. Gachet,” which van Gogh created in 1890 – less then two months before he committed suicide – is now part of the Art Center’s permanent collection. The piece was purchased with money from the Mildred M. Bohen Deaccessioning Fund, as well as from Harriet Macomber, in memory of J. Locke Macomber.
