Auto sales were hot in July

General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co. and FCA US LLC all reported vehicle sales above analyst expectations.
Continued demand for trucks and sport utility vehicles, lower gas prices and easy availability of credit contributed to the sales numbers that beat analysts’ estimates.
GM said its sales rose 6.4 percent to 272,512 vehicles from 256,160 vehicles in July 2014.
Ford said it had its best July since 2006. Sales rose 4.9 percent last month from a year ago, to 222,731.
FCA US, which changed its name from Chrysler Group in mid-December, said its U.S. sales for July rose 6 percent to 178,027 units, marking 64 consecutive months of year-over-year sales gains.
Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. said its July sales grew 0.6 percent to 217,181 units. Toyota division sales fell 0.6 percent to 187,365 units, while Lexus sales rose 9.1 percent to 29,816 units.
