Volunteers from Aviva USA will exercise their artistic talents during a “Day of Action” today. As part of the company’s United Way Campaign activities, employee volunteers will paint educational-themed artwork on the sidewalk leading into the Des Moines Health Center, the dental clinic at the United Way Campus at 1111 Ninth St. in Des Moines. The artwork is an “early learning trail” comprised of numbers, letters, shapes and colors. A second early learning trail will be painted at Findley Elementary School, 3000 Cambridge St. in Des Moines. Aviva volunteers will also assemble backpacks filled with early learning materials, which United Way will distribute to Des Moines-area elementary students needing school supplies. Both efforts are part of Aviva’s Street to School program, a companywide initiative designed to help children get off the streets and into school.
