Bank of America’s Better Money Habits site offers tips on taxes, money management

With tax season in full swing, Iowans who are anticipating federal and state tax refunds may be wondering how to leverage their refunds to fulfill their new-year resolution of managing their money better. Bank of America is offering a free online tool, Better Money Habits, designed to help people make better financial decisions. Developed in partnership with the online education nonprofit Khan Academy, it provides tools in 10 topic areas, among them debt, college, auto and retirement. The Better Money Habits site also features a section on taxes that includes helpful articles, investment options for tax refunds and deductions that individuals may qualify for. According to IRS data, the average federal tax refund last year was $2,800. Here are nine suggestions from Better Money Habits on smart ways to use that tax refund.
