The Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation will receive a $4,000 grant from the Bayer-Monsanto facility in Ankeny, the foundation announced today. Funds from the grant will be used to support teacher professional development efforts in Ankeny and around Greater Des Moines. The Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation previously received a Bayer Fund grant in 2018 to support 44 teachers in grades pre-K through 12 with agriculture education workshops. In 2019, the Bayer Fund awarded more than $1.4 million to nonprofit organizations in rural communities. “Agriculture is a key division of our company, and encouraging teachers to understand the science of modern agriculture is very exciting,” said Jeff Woessner, site lead at the Molecular Breeding Center in Ankeny. “We’re enthusiastic about supporting the Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation with this Bayer Fund grant.”
