The Seed the Farm benefit will take place Jan. 21 starting at 7 p.m. to honor Jennie Smith, owner of Butcher Crik Farms, who is heading to New Zealand this February as a Rotary Club Ambassador.

While there, Smith will further her education in agriscience and horticulture for a year. While she’s gone, her 2 1/2-acre farm, which supplies heirloom tomatoes to dining establishments such as Fleming’s, Luna Bistro and Trostel’s Dish, will lie dormant.

Donations raised at the benefit will help re-seed the farm upon her return in 2013. Seed the Farm will be held at the Teachout Building, 500 E. Locust St. The $25 or $50 donation to attend can be paid via Paypal.com. For more information, visit Butcher Crik Farms’ Facebook page.
