Berkshire Hathaway Energy’s shuffle promotes Fehrman, Wright
Longtime MidAmerican Energy executive Bill Fehrman has been promoted to president and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Energy, replacing Greg Abel, who was promoted to vice chair of the board of parent company Berkshire Hathaway and will head the company’s non-insurance businesses.
Fehrman has been a senior executive with Berkshire since 2006 and was the CEO of MidAmerican Energy Co. and BHE Renewables. His tenure has included MidAmerican’s massive move into wind energy, one of the nation’s biggest renewable energy plays among investor-owned utilities.
Berkshire owns MidAmerican.
MidAmerican exec Adam Wright has been promoted to president and CEO, replacing Fehrman.
Wright, a former professional football player featured in a Closer Look (Insider) was vice president for gas delivery previously. He began his career with Berkshire Hathaway Energy in 1996, while he was in college.
In 2003, Wright joined the operations group at Northern Natural Gas where he served in various management roles. In 2010, he left the operations group and assumed the role of vice president of marketing, where he managed negotiations of long-term service agreements and customer satisfaction initiatives for Northern Natural Gas.
Wright started leading MidAmerican Energy’s wind generation fleet in 2012, overseeing its expansion and operations. Starting in 2015, he assumed the role of vice president, gas operations.
