Chet Culver to sit on the board of the Federal Agricultural Mortgage Corp., better known as Farmer Mac. The publicly traded company is a government-sponsored entity that Congress created in 1988 to increase access to — and lower the cost of — credit in rural America. The president names five of the 15 Farmer Mac board directors, with shareholders choosing the other 10 directors.
