Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa is kicking off its 30th annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake on April 13. The event is the organization’s signature fundraiser, which raises money for youth mentoring programs. Last year, the event raised $230,000.

“Three decades is a long time to have a successful fundraiser that brings people together in the spirit of fun and for the purpose of helping youth in our community. Because of Bowl For Kids’ Sake, we can continue to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships between youths (littles) and volunteer mentors (bigs),” Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa CEO Bridget Cravens-Neely said in a news release.

The event will start at Spare Time Entertainment at 3 p.m. on April 13, and will continue throughout the month at bowling alleys across Greater Des Moines, including Val Lanes and Great Escape. Anyone is welcome to participate, and can form teams of up to five people.

More information can be found on the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa website.
