Board approves funding for alternative energy project
The Iowa Power Fund Board approved funding for Fiberight-Blairstown Operating LLC to demonstrate how non-homogeneous municipal solid waste(MSW) can be converted into alternative energy. The project, which will cost a projected $7 million, received a $2.9 million grant from the board. Fiberight-Blairstown intends to show how MSW can be converted into cellulosic ethanol, biochemicals and other processed fiber using biochemical technology on a cost-effective, commercial production scale.
