Boys & Girls Clubs partners to host DMPS Options Academy program

151 wordsAll Latest News, Education, Nonprofits and PhilanthropyBoys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa is partnering with Des Moines Public Schools to provide an additional location for the district’s Options Academy program at the Gregory & Suzie Glazer Burt Club on Drake University’s campus. According to a news release, Options Academy is designed for youths and adults ages 17-21 and aims to help them earn their high school diploma and prepare them for future workforce opportunities. The program offers personalized curriculum, career coaching and access to free community resources. Options Academy will serve approximately 60 participants during the 2024-25 school year, the release said. “Education cannot succeed when it is a one-size-fits-all model. At DMPS, Options Academy has grown and succeeded by providing students with the support and flexibility they need and deserve in order to complete their high school education and prepare for their future,” Ian Roberts, Des Moines Public Schools superintendent, said in a prepared statement.
