Bravo Greater Des Moines will present Ballet Des Moines and the Iowa Asian Alliance with Spotlight Awards during its annual awards gala, scheduled for Feb. 4 at Hy-Vee Hall. According to a news release announcing the awards, the Spotlight Awards highlight the inspiring work of Bravo’s cultural partners. Ballet Des Moines and the Iowa Asian Alliance were selected because of their work and growth in the last year, and because their goals, strategy and programming align with Bravo’s new strategic plan for fiscal years 2023 through 2025, the release stated. Bravo will also honor Kyle and Sharon Krause with this year’s Bravo Award, which is presented to an individual, family or foundation whose commitment to arts, culture and heritage has positively affected the Des Moines region. The gala is a fundraiser for Bravo, with proceeds going to offset the organization’s operating expenses. Whatever is raised above that level goes to the community in grants to Bravo’s nonprofit arts, culture and heritage partners.
