On March 27, the Iowa chapter of the American Institute of Architects will present “Canstruction,” an annual event intended to support a fight to end hunger and to showcase the skills of local architects, engineers and designers. Beginning at 7 a.m., 10 teams are scheduled to participate in the event at Capital Square, which will include the construction of several sculptures using canned foods as the only building materials. Canstruction Inc. is a nonprofit charity group committed to ending hunger. The public is encouraged to visit the displays and donate canned food items to the Food Bank of Iowa. The sculptures will be on display until April 2.
