Cedar Rapids, Urban Dreams launch workforce training apprenticeship program

89 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Education, Government Policy and Law, Statewide NewsThe city of Cedar Rapids and the Des Moines-based nonprofit Urban Dreams are launching a new workforce training apprenticeship program for Cedar Rapids. The program focuses on adults and young people from the city’s underserved and low-socioeconomic areas, particularly high school dropouts or at-risk youth, individuals lacking career guidance, those with prior criminal records, and those under- or unemployed. The Cedar Rapids Urban Dreams program will provide participants with pre-employment training and additional support network, and provide technical and cultural competency training for local employers participating in the program.
