The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs’ eighth Celebrate Iowa Gala raised more than $150,000 to go toward the State Historical Society of Iowa and State Historical Museum of Iowa, the organization announced this week. The funds will help the museum create new statewide exhibitions and programming, including the second year of operations for the Iowa History 101 mobile museum — a custom-built Winnebago that recently finished its first three-year, 99-county tour. The organization also launched the new 1857 Society, a charitable giving program honoring the State Historical Society of Iowa’s creation. More information is available online.
