Central Campus open house
Des Moines Independent Community School District will hold an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 21 to show off renovations at Central Campus, 1800 Grand Ave. Improvements to the third floor cost about $14 million and included updates to several programs and departments, including aquarium science, broadcasting and film, commercial photography and the Gateway Secondary School. Culinary arts students will provide refreshments. Visitors can make a T-shirt, extract DNA and star in a movie, among other activities. Renovations also are planned for the first and second floors.
