Central College has partnered with Gezellig Brewing Co. in Newton and Pella Hops Co. on a new craft beer, Forever Dutch Lager, to help support its Journey Scholarship Fund. Central became the first private college in Iowa to partner with a local brewery to offer a signature craft beer, and 15% of the sales will go toward the scholarship fund. “Our decision to partner with local businesses opens a new pathway to generate support for our Journey Scholarship Fund,” Sunny Gonzales Eighmy, vice president for advancement at Central, said in a prepared statement. “For the past two years, Central has made a commitment to give all new incoming students a Journey Scholarship, and our generous donors help make sure those students continue to receive a Journey Scholarship each year they are at Central.” Forever Dutch will first be available for Central’s fall homecoming celebration in Pella-area restaurants and stores beginning Sept. 29.
