Central State Bank, a family-owned bank based in State Center, recently received state regulatory approval to establish a West Des Moines branch, which the bank expects to open in March. The branch will be located near the Hilton Garden Inn West Des Moines at 140 S. 68th St., Suite 1100. It will be Central State’s second branch location outside of State Center, after opening its first branch in Ames in May 2019. Brian Disney, president and CEO of Central State Bank, said the full-service branch will be led by two experienced loan officers, Matt Weih and Kevin Ridout, who are currently working out of Central State’s loan production office in West Des Moines. “We’re opening this Des Moines office because we’ve seen so much growth over the years that we want to better serve our customers, and hopefully build on what we’ve accomplished,” Disney said. “We have over $100 million in commercial loans in the Des Moines market, and also $40 million in deposits in the Des Moines market through our business development efforts there over the past 10 years.” The bank has also picked up customers in surrounding areas such Boone, Indianola and Knoxville, he said. With the branch opening, Central State plans to add two more commercial lenders, as well a third credit analyst and at least two personal bankers. The bank has tripled its asset size over the past 10 years, growing to $380 million currently, up from $137 million in 2010. While it is initially leasing space in West Des Moines, Disney hopes the bank will eventually be able to build or purchase its own building. Established in 1901, Central State Bank has been owned by the Haesemeyer family since 1942.
