CenturyLink Inc. is expanding its headquarters in Monroe, La., with a new facility to accommodate about 600 to 800 additional employees, according to a release.

The facility is expected to house technology research facilities and additional office space.

CenturyLink will break ground on the new facility in 2013. In May, CenturyLink announced plans to close its Des Moines office by September and consolidate 144 positions to Sioux City.

The company employs approximately 1,500 people in Iowa.
