Chambers host discussion today on gas tax, road and bridge repairs
As state lawmakers debate a bill that would raise the gasoline tax by 10 cents a gallon, several chamber groups will stage a panel discussion on the Iowa Road Use Tax Fund today. The session, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Java Joe’s CoffeeHouse, 214 Fourth St., will include a panel discussion featuring Paul Trombino, director of the Iowa Department of Transportation; Michael Kulik, attorney, Davis Brown Law Firm; and Scott Newhard, executive vice president, Associated General Contractors of Iowa. The event is hosted by the Des Moines Downtown Chamber of Commerce, the Des Moines East & South Chamber of Commerce and the Des Moines West Side Chamber of Commerce. Read more
