The city of West Des Moines announced the approval of the name Legacy Woods for its latest development project, located at 2251 Fuller Road in West Des Moines. Previously, the property had been a church camp operated by the Church of the Nazarene and was purchased by the city in June 2023. According to West Des Moines Parks and Recreation Director Ryan Penning, the vision for the property is to include a nature sanctuary, educational spaces and preservation of the area surrounding the historic Jordan House. “This project exemplifies the power of public-private partnerships,” City Manager Tom Hadden said in a prepared statement. “By working together, we can create a space that honors our past while embracing opportunities for the future.”
