Cmelik named Des Moines city clerk

The of Des Moines has named Paula “Kay” Cmelik as city clerk. Cmelik replaces Diane Rauh, who will retire at the end of the September after working for the city for 35 years. Cmelik, who will be paid $115,000 annually, has 28 years of local government experience. She has been city clerk and finance director for the city of Grinnell since 2006. She previously was Hartley’s city clerk and administrator. Cmelik will start her position in November.
