The hospital’s board of directors had voted on Sept. 23 to extend an offer to Coleman, who was one of two finalists for the position. He most recently was vice president of operations and assistant hospital administrator for Kaiser Permanente’s largest and fastest-growing service area in San Bernardino, Calif. “It is an honor to join such a remarkable organization with a reputation of outstanding care and service,” Coleman said in a statement. “I am grateful to the Broadlawns Board of Trustees for entrusting me with this amazing leadership opportunity. I look forward to working together with the community, our physicians, and every Broadlawns team member to ensure that all Polk County residents have access to high quality healthcare, regardless of an individual’s needs or background.” Coleman, 42, will be paid an annual salary of $550,000, and will have an opportunity to earn an annual bonus of up to $100,000 based on performance metrics established by Broadlawns’ board, beginning July 1, 2022. His initial three-year contract ends June 30, 2025. He fills the position formerly held by Jody Jenner, who retired in April after 15 years as president and CEO. The public hospital employs a staff of more than 1,200, along with about 100 physicians.
