‘College GameDay’ coming to Ames

ESPN’s “College GameDay” will be a full display of everything Iowan this weekend. For the first time, the sports show is coming to Iowa State for a much anticipated CyHawk showdown between the Cyclones’ in-state rivals the Iowa Hawkeyes. While the announcement was just made over the weekend, Iowa State Athletic Director Jamie Pollard had been lobbying for the crew to come for some time. Pollard sent the crew an email during the Alamo Bowl week last year, promising a “sold-out stadium, arguably one of the best tailgating environments in the country, and two really good football teams,” the Des Moines Register reports. While the game always draws a massive exodus to either Ames or Iowa City, the “GameDay” crew is sure to make an even bigger economic stamp. “GameDay’s” Desmond Howard tweeted: “Looking for some interesting things to do in Ames (like a record store or 2). I get it, you have a BBQ cornbread place, but what else?” They’ll find out soon.
