Nikon SLM Solutions announced that Collins Aerospace has purchased a second large-format 3D printer for its facility in West Des Moines. The new printer will allow Collins to increase its additive production capacity at the site, which recently underwent a $14 million expansion. The NXG Xll 600 printer, which works at speeds 20 times faster than standard single laser machines, will be used in design and production of engine components and military aircraft. “We’re fueling their mission to revolutionize aerospace manufacturing,” Nikon CEO Sam O’Leary said in a prepared statement. “This not only empowers the industry as a whole but underscores our commitment to customer-driven innovation.”
