The Des Moines Arts Festival and MidAmerican Energy Co. are teaming up to offer nonprofit organizations an opportunity to participate at the festival free of charge. The festival and MidAmerican are offering the Community Outreach Program, providing $250 to each of the selected nonprofits for art supplies and staffing. According to a news release, nonprofits are given a booth at the festival and are required to provide an interactive arts-related activity and staff to manage the booth. All nonprofit spaces are part of the festival’s “Creative Zone” on Grand Avenue west of 15th Street. Festival Executive Director Stephen King said the Community Outreach Program gives nonprofits the opportunity to engage with thousands of people at the 2022 festival, scheduled for June 24-26. “Thanks to the generous support from MidAmerican Energy Co., their participation is underwritten and they are provided with additional support for supplies and staffing,” King said. Space is limited to 20 nonprofit organizations. The deadline to apply is April 15. Organizations that are selected will be notified by April 29.
