Construction has started on a Dupaco Community Credit Union learning lab branch at 1090 E. Hickman Road in Waukee.

Plans for the branch office were first announced in late 2020.

The branch is Dubuque-based Dupaco credit union’s second location in the Des Moines area. It also has a branch in Grimes.

The 7,800-square-foot Waukee branch, the credit union’s 24th, will feature a service delivery technology called video teller, which allows live tellers to conduct real-time, face-to-face transactions from a distance. Dupaco employees located at a central location in Dubuque will remotely operate the Waukee lobby and drive-through video teller machines.

Signage and lighting at the facility will use LED illumination to conserve energy and reduce electricity costs by more than 35% annually, according to a news release.

Construction is expected to be completed by late 2023. Accurate Commercial is building the branch.
