Consumer prices up slightly for urban Midwest

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers in the Midwest rose 0.1 percent in July, according to numbers released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Regional Commissioner Charlene Peiffer said in a press release that a 0.6 percent decline in energy prices helped offset increases in the indexes for food – up 0.4 percent – and all items other than food and energy – up 0.1 percent. During the past 12 months, the index rose 3.8 percent.
