Count the Kicks, which started in Iowa in 2008, was developed by Healthy Birth Day Inc. as an empowering stillbirth prevention program for expectant parents to get to know their baby’s normal movement patterns in the third trimester and to speak up if they notice a change. The Changemakers event featured a parade of babies and children who were saved as a result of their parents tracking their movements. Decades of research, including this study out of Norway, shows paying attention to movement is a non-invasive way for expectant parents to monitor their baby’s health.
