Cox won’t seek reelection in Urbandale
Urbandale City Councilman Creighton Cox has decided not to seek reelection after eight years on the council. In an open letter to Urbandale citizens, Cox said he has taken a new job as manager of business development for Iowa at Turner Construction, and he wants to focus his efforts on that. Cox said highlights of his time on the council include a new fire station, improved streets and trails, expanded parks, new police, fire and EMS staffing, and the opening of the 100th Street bridge. “Before I leave Council, I’m looking forward to Urbandale approving a new affordable housing project for the community,” he added. Cox, who will be busy celebrating his daughter Stella’s eighth birthday on Election Day, becomes the second Urbandale City Council member leaving the council at the end of the term; Tom Gayman announced earlier he won’t seek re-election.
