Scarbrough International Ltd., a Kansas City, Mo.-based international logistics and U.S. customs brokerage firm, said Thursday it has accepted terms to acquire Laredo Becnel Inc., a Laredo, Texas-based customs broker, and Despachos HuGo S.C., a Nuevo Laredo, Mexico-based customs brokerage and logistics firm. The strategic acquisition will expand Scarbrough’s capability throughout the South and into Mexico. Scarbrough operates offices in Des Moines as well as Chicago and St. Louis, each along the Interstate Highway 35 North American Free Trade Agreement corridor. Financial terms were not disclosed for the transaction, which is expected to close on Aug. 1.
