Cyber Monday sets record for online sales
Cyber Monday numbers are even better than originally reported, according to Internet research firm comScore.
Online spending surpassed $1 billion on Monday, making it the heaviest online shopping day in history.
ComScore Chairman Gian Fulgoni said in a press release that the historic day was likely the result of retailers providing heavier-than-normal discounts and promotions at this point of the holiday season.
“So, while we anticipate that there will be more billion-dollar spending days ahead as we get deeper into the season, only time will tell if overall consumer spending remains at the elevated levels we’ve seen thus far,” he said.
