The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority has donated a bus to the Salvation Army to begin a new mobile social services program later this year. According to a news release, the Salvation Army received the keys to the bus Wednesday. “DART has given us the keys to start the very first Salvation Army Mobile Social Services bus in the Western Division and we are so excited,” said Maj. Butch Frost, Iowa Capital Area coordinator. He said the bus will serve areas in Polk, Warren, Dallas and Story counties “to bring help and hope to those struggling in areas without access to assistance.” The bus will be remodeled inside and out to fit the needs of the program, which is scheduled to start on Aug. 1.
