Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority announced today that it will extend service on its Route 4 farther north in Des Moines, including access to Dee Zee Manufacturing’s main plant on Northeast 58th Avenue and other area employers, effective Sunday, Feb. 4. Beginning the same day, Dee Zee employees will have the opportunity to ride DART buses for free through Dee Zee’s investment in DART’s Unlimited Access program. The manufacturer worked with DART to extend Local Route 4 and offer employees free rides as Dee Zee seeks to fill 75 job openings. DART’s Unlimited Access program allows organizations to pay a set amount for employees or students to ride free by showing a work or school ID; 19 organizations, ranging from Principal Financial Group to the Des Moines Bicycle Collective, currently participate. Dee Zee, which manufactures truck accessories, employs more than 1,000 people among six manufacturing plants in Greater Des Moines.
