Dart likes the numbers for Ingersoll line
The D-Line downtown shuttle service to Ingersoll Avenue tallied 509 riders on Oct. 29, its first day of service.
The limited-time service will be offered by the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) on Fridays through Dec. 3 to encourage people to get off work downtown and join in Ingersoll nightlife. The regular D-Line route is extended to the west along Ingersoll to 39th Street and shortened on the east side to turn around in the East Village instead of behind the Capitol.
The altered route is scheduled to run every 10 minutes from 5 p.m. to midnight.
DART is teaming up with the Des Moines West Side Chamber of Commerce and the Ingersoll Business Association, which approached the bus service about offering a Friday night service.
DART is happy with the first-day numbers, a spokesman said.
